Fishbone were asked by Siemens to compile a series of FEA analyses and reports to underpin an ongoing European GSMR installation program encompassing four discrete classes. To achieve this, we:
- Familiarised ourselves with the design pack and studied the structural requirements
- Set up the load cases in the FEA software before running the analyses, checking the results against expectations and hand calculations to ensure credibility of the study
- At the request of the client, produced a series of hand calculations to show the suitability of the selected fasteners in terms of both proof load and fatigue life
- Compiled a thorough report detailing the suitability of the design with regards to the details of the investigation described above against the applicable standards
Fishbone have been excellent in providing support to our retrofit installation design projects, undertaking surveys, detailed design and structural assessments. Our experience has shown them to be able to take on this wide breadth of work in a professional, collaborative and flexible manner, and always achieved project timescales.
