Prior to joining the rail industry, Luke was a dual-trained Aircraft Engineer working on Harrier and Eurofighter Typhoon squadrons. He gained a first-class degree in Engineering and became a Chartered Engineer in 2020 with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). Luke has an extensive breadth of knowledge accumulated through engagement in design, maintenance, operations, development, modification, testing, commissioning, and coordination of mechanical and electrical engineering projects in rail freight and passenger train and infrastructure environments. Previously working as Head of Operations Engineering at Fishbone Luke led on a variety of product introduction and condition-based maintenance extension projects, then in recognition of his achievements, in 2025 Luke was promoted to Chief Engineer.
