Fishbone was asked to investigate the possibility of increasing the Gross Load Weight (GLW) of a freight tanker from 90 to 101.6 Tonnes. To achieve this, we:
Created accurate CAD models of wagon & bogies from existing drawings and from measurements taken on the wagon where required
Applied industry load standards to carry out a Finite Elements Analysis of the wagon under the increased load
Identified areas prohibitive to GLW increase and modifications required to make compliant
Devised and managed a modification programme
Applied a dynamic assessment of the vehicle with the new GLW
Ensured the vehicle complied to industry standards for operation at the new GLW
Supplied a structural report & supporting documents including modification procedures and supporting drawings
