Fishbone played a key role in the identification and management of a solution to this critical requirement. Working in partnership with MPEC, who developed a bespoke Remote Condition Monitoring (RCM) system at Euston, the system provided performance and capacity resilience to the West Coast South route and integrated with both existing Network Rail systems and enhanced timetable performance simulation.

Services

Fishbone provided innovation and programme management services to ensure the system delivered:

  • A reduction in the need for frontline teams to be out on track in areas of high risk
  • Enabling more maintenance activities to be planned rather than reacted to as faults
  • The capture of both analogue and digital formats in one system
  • Enable maintenance teams’ activities to be prioritised
  • Reduce maintenance requirements on key components
  • Sense check and evaluates the effectiveness of maintenance interventions
  • Inform whole-life costs of each asset
  • Customised alarms allow actual and predicted faults to be prioritised better
  • Created the ability to remotely monitor the performance of HVI track circuits, which had not previously been possible.

A product approval submission was made as part of the phase 1 works, and approval was achieved on 24th January 2020.
