Angel Trains, a leading rolling stock asset owner, has been using Trello, a project management tool, to track the progress of projects. To do this, they download data and manually create various reports in Excel and Word, sharing the project status with the wider business. Due to the constraints of the project management tool used, Angel Trains was dependent on workarounds to capture key data and complex formulas to extract this data from exports. The process of creating these reports became increasingly time-consuming as the demand for more information from within the business grew.

Angel engaged Fishbone to inquire about the possibility of creating an interactive Business Intelligence dashboard to assist in cleansing data, visualise their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), integrate two additional data sources regarding Purchase Orders (PO) and Receipts Raised, and build in the capacity to create and export multiple project reports at once via PDF or PowerPoint.

The dashboard Fishbone created combined five main pages, a summary page of various KPIs required by Angel to track the progress of their projects. A secondary page summarising PO and receipts against POs on their projects.  An interactive version of the project reports used by Angel to show the progress and status of projects. A Q&A page which had the functionality for Angel to communicate with their data using natural language. Finally, a project selector page allowed Angel to select the projects they wish to create project reports for and export these via PDF or PowerPoint.

The dashboard simplified processes and allowed Angel to better track their projects. It provided them with a tool to quickly and easily create reports for the wider business on the progress of their projects, introduced further efficiencies to project management, and business as usual and reduced their workload.
